Thank you Bank of the Ozarks!

Little Rock, Ark. (September 16, 2016) – Habitat for Humanity of Central held its 7th Annual ReStore & After fundraising event on September 15, 2016 at Embassy Suites Hotel. Presented by Bank of the Ozarks, guests came to support Habitat’s mission to build strength, stability and self-reliance in Central Arkansas by bidding on upcycled home décor items.

Over 70 participating artists and DIYers donated thoughtfully and creatively upcycled items to the auction which helped to raise over $80,000 benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas. 600 guests bid on the items while enjoying gourmet mac and cheese, a s’mores bar and host cocktails. Heather and Poolboy from Alice 107.7 emceed the event and served as auctioneers for the live auction.

Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas CEO Bill Plunkett said, “ReStore & After is a unique way for us to demonstrate not only recycling, but we also hope it helps us fulfill our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We were honored to have longtime Habitat supporters Bank of the Ozarks present the event.”

Officer Tommy Norman was honored as the recipient of the Golden Hammer Award. The Golden Hammer Award is given in honor of those individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community. Officer Norman is beloved for his Community Policing effort, and has volunteered his time at numerous Habitat for Humanity Rock the Block events. His community presence has recently garnered nationwide attention and numerous honors.

Following Officer Norman’s award, the crowd was treated to a special reveal. He was moved to tears and expressed his gratitude for being given the opportunity to purchase his first home. His home will be the first “Tiny Home” built by Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas.
