Organization


Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas builds homes, community and hope. HFHCA is a nonprofit organization based in Little Rock, Arkansas, the state capital.  Founded in 1989, we have built more than 200 homes for deserving, low-to-moderate income families and done neighborhood revitalization work on another 600 homes in two counties. Our full and part-time staff, including administrative, construction and retail, totals about 25.


Position Summary


Volunteers are key to the success of Habitat’s work. They help on home builds and other worksites, in the ReStore, and in other capacities. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Volunteer Coordinator VISTA will increase sustainable systems and resources that support the organization: build relationships through outreach and communication, grow and refine a volunteer database, and formalize and document volunteer policies and procedures.  


Responsibilities

 

  • Recruit, establish and maintain volunteer relationships for Habitat programs

  • Coordinate volunteer events

  • Pilot, test and track volunteer communications, feedback, etc.

  • Create effective systems and clear documentation so that the program can continue successfully at the end of the service year


Compensation


This is a full-time national service position that provides a living allowance of approximately $13,399.15 over the course of one year ($513.94 every two weeks). You also have the choice of one of two awards at the end of a successful year of service: a $1,800 cash stipend bonus or a $6,195.00 education award for future educational expenses or federal student loans. Childcare assistance and relocation assistance are available to VISTA Members who qualify. One year of non-competitive eligibility is also available. You are responsible for your own housing and other living expenses.


Qualifications


The Volunteer Coordinator VISTA will be thoroughly committed to Habitat’s mission and to national service. All candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills
Strong people skills, with ability to form effective working relationships with a wide range of people

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to drive multiple simultaneous projects to completion

  • At least 18 years of age

  • A United States Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Available to begin serving on August 30, 2021 for a one-year term
